Valuable Coral Reefs

It's stormy weather on Bonaire, a beautiful moment of reflection and reflecting on the power of nature. Recently I was at a presentation of WWF on Bonaire. How wonderful that they are getting more active here. Their mission for the coming years is the protection of the coral reefs. Very important for the entire ecosystem and life in the Caribbean. The sea and the coral are also very inspiring for artists and also for my work.

Due to the storm, many sediments wash into the sea that pose a threat to the coral. That has always been the case, but the many stray goats eat away young vegetation that could have held the ground. So everything has an effect on it, on land and in the sea.

I am proud of WWF that they still exist after so many years and are now doing more in this part of the world. My grandfather always gave us gifts of WWF with the famous panda bear on it at Christmas, which has made the brand and what they stand for even more dear to me.
